A viewing is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, at the Headwaters Center Sunroom. Graveside services follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Dubois Cemetery.
Mr. Claar, 68, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
Robert Eugene Claar was born Sept. 9, 1943, in Hollidaysburg, Pa., the son of Percy Glenn Claar and Helen Virginia (Dodson) Claar. He attended schools in the Hollidaysburg area.
He married Carol Ann Henry on June 2, 1961, in Hollidaysburg.
Mr. Claar was self-employed. His family said he found great joy in working alongside his family and friends.
He was of the Christian faith.
Mr. Claar came to Wyoming to hunt in 1967, loved the area, and he and his wife moved the family to Wyoming from Pennsylvania in 1979. Mr. Claar and his family spent 17 years in Osage, and the remainder of his life in Dubois, between the Big Horn and Teton mountains.
His family said Mr. Claar lived to hunt, fish and enjoyed observing wildlife, all things outdoors, going to auctions and yard sales with his family, and especially spending time with his family, friends and dogs.
Mr. Claar is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Claar of Dubois; his sons, Robert Claar Jr. and wife Sandra of East Freedom, Pa., Percy Claar Sr. and wife Diana, and Jon Theilig, all of Dubois, and Gary Goehmann and wife Sonia of Gillette; daughters Debra Castro and husband Jerry, Brenda Waite and husband Pat, Melissa Mincey and husband Steven, all of Dubois, Jeannine Stouffer and husband Mark of Altoona, Pa., Pamela Kanoff and husband Chuck, and Michelle Winkler and husband Troy, all of Harrisburg, Pa., and Lois Vorgason and husband Scott of Greybull; 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Claar Sr. and wife Leanna of Hollidaysburg, Pa.; sisters Goldie Griffith and husband Bill of Hollidaysburg, Janet Ness and husband Perry of York, Pa., Ethel Maydak and husband Larry of West Mifflin, Pa., and Nancy Gates and husband Harry of Shellsburg, Pa.; Steve Werlinger Sr. of Pine Mountain, Mich., and Anthony Castro of Newry, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Claar; his mother, Helen Virginia (Dodson) Claar, and father Percy Glenn Claar.
