Jan 20, 2014 - StaffAfter Fremont County Attorney Tim Judson resigned to accept a judgeship early in 1985, the vacancy in the elected office needed to be filled. The Fremont County Republican Party accepted letters of interest 29 years ago this week from seven interested candidates: Larry Sorrell, Bill Eichelberger, Robert Anderson, Tony Howard, Judi Patton, Sky Phifer and Chip Chipley.
At a party central committee meeting, each of the seven was allotted six minutes to make his or her case for becoming one of the three finalists to be forwarded to the Fremont County Commission.
It took three votes for the field to be narrowed to three: Anderson of Riverton, Eichelberger of Cheyenne, and Sorrell of Lander. Their names were submitted to the county commission, which chose Eichelberger for the position.
