Ivan L. Weeks, 65, of the Wind River Indian Reservation, died Sunday, April 1, at his home following a sudden illness.

Traditional American Indian funeral services are at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 5, at Rocky Mountain Hall at Fort Washakie with Darwin Niedo officiating. Interment follows at the Sacajawea Cemetery.

An evening service is 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, with a wake to follow at the family residence, No. 46 Washakie Park Road, North Fork, Fort Washakie.

Ivan Larry Weeks was born Oct. 6, 1946, in Fort Washakie the son of Mildred and Rupert Weeks. He attended schools at Fort Washakie, Fremont County Vocational High School in Lander and Central Wyoming College.

Mr. Weeks worked for the forestry office in Fort Washakie, was a Sho Rap firefighter and planted trees in the Shoshone National Forest.

His family said he enjoyed gardening, fishing, riding his four-wheeler, listening to music of the 50s and 60s, picking berries and collecting antiques.

Mr. Weeks is survived by his mother, Mildred Weeks; sisters Nola Weeks, Betty Hill and Connie Ahlbrandt; brothers Kassell, Gary and Sam Weeks; stepbrother Phillip Hurtado; nephew Marvin Hill; aunts Pansy St. Clair, Catherine Shakespeare and Zethel Nephi; uncle Willard Ballard; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Violet M. Weeks; brother Rupert Weeks Jr.; grandparents Viola and Hunting Hill, Sylvia and Nesbitt Weeks; aunts Irene Pingree, Vera Shank, Lily Jackson and Martha Shay; uncles Ernest, Frank, Edwin, Wayne, Alfred and Herman Hill, and Edgar Weeks.

Services were provided by Wind Dancer Funeral Home of Fort Washakie.
