Scott Edward Meyers, 55, passed away Monday, Oct. 9, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Dale Adams of the Lighthouse Bible Church officiating. Inurnment of cremated remains will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Lydia Mary Jenkins, 78, died Oct. 10, 2017, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13,at Great Plains Hall, with a wake to follow. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church with Father Jim Heiser officiating. Interment will follow at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.
John H. Dewey, 79, died Oct. 11, 2017, at the Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20,at the Davis Funeral Home with Echo Klaproth officiating.
Carl Ronald "Ron" Johnson, 77, died Oct. 7, 2017, in Riverton. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Mountain Grace Church in Dubois with Pastor Duane Dewald officiating. Interment of cremated remains will follow at the Dubois Cemetery with military honors.

The Halloween Hustle Fun Run held by the Riverton Branch Library will be from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Preregistration is required by Oct. 6. After the family and teen costume run and scavenger hunt, ribbons will be awarded to the best themed, most original, scariest, funniest and cutest costumes. At the finish line, families will be able to enter the Haunted Halls of the library that will end in the community room. There will be a Spooktacular Ghostly Gathering with fun treats, photo booth, games and prizes. The teens will then head up to the Fright Fest for additional activities. The event is sponsored by Conoco Philips.
Riverton Does Family Night will be held at 6 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Riverton. The meals is $8 per person and includes 4 different kinds of soup, rolls and dessert. The drove will old different family nights monthly at the Elks Lodge.
Saturday, October 14
The Winter Farmer's Market will be every Saturday at the 4H lunchroom at the Fremont County Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Breakfast with Bighorns: Join Big Horn Sheep Center staff and volunteers on a driving tour and short trek of our local bighorn sheep habitat viewing area 8-10 a.m. from Dubois. A light breakfast will be provided. For more information call 455-3429.
The Riverton Museum will host the 3rd Annual Fall Fest for Kids from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Crafts, fun, games, munchies, and prizes at this free event for the public.
A responsible ownership event held by the PAWS animal shelter and Stock Doc will be held at the CATS museum from 10 a.m. to noon to educate children on proper pet care. Children who participate will receive goody bags and posters for attending. Animals will be at the museum and a "Good Dog Listener" certificate will also be awarded to children who participate.
A dog and puppy adoption by the PAWS animal shelter will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sweetwater Garden. People who adopt will receive a $50 gift certificate and there will be a silent auction to benefit PAWS. There will be a squash contest, baked goods contests pumpkin workshop and kids workshop.
The First Annual Purple Ball will be at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Riverton. General admission is $20 per person. Reserved seating is $35 per person and includes table service, door prizes and a gift bag. A reserved table is $250 for eight people or half a table for $125. Proceeds go to the Fremont County Alliance Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Victim Assistance. A silent auction will be open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Music will be provided by Cowboy State Entertainment. There will be raffles, refreshments and a cash bar. Formal attire is not required. Champion Chile Cook Off will be at 2 p.m. at Lander City Park This first annual event will include a green chili cook off along with several local food vendors.
The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflote) will play 10:55 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.as part of the Met Opera Live HD program in the Carnegie Room in the Lander Library. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Lunch is available for purchase. For more information call 332-2650 or 332-6203.
Dubois Kiwanis October Pancake Fest will be 8-10 a.m. at the Dubois Senior Center. The meal includes pancakes, sausage, hashbrowns, fruit and beverages for $5. Children 5 and under eat free. Proceeds go to projects benefiting youth and the community.

The "A Little Bit Off" comedic show of clowning, mimetics, juggling puppetry and dance is at 7 p.m. at Lander Valley High School, 350 Baldwin Creek Road, presented by the Lander Community Concert Association. Tickets are available at the door.

In Riverton Police Department reports Wednesday:
Police responded at about 11:25 a.m. Wednesday to reports of a minor hit and run incident in the 200 block of East Main Street. Officials said there are no suspects.
Police responded at about 3 p.m. Wednesday to reports that a customer at a business in the 500 block of East Main Street had tried to pay a bar tab with a debit card that didn't have any money on it. Officials said they are trying to track down the suspect.
Police responded at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday to reports from the 200 block of East Madison Avenue that someone had cashed another person's per capita check.
Police responded at about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday to reports o a minor traffic collision in the 2000 block of West Sunset Drive.
Police responded at about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday to reports of a minor traffic collision in the 1600 block of North Federal Boulevard.
Police contacted two juveniles who were riding dirt bikes on the road at about 5 p.m. Wednesday on Raintree Drive. Officials said the subjects were advised the activity was not allowed.
A purse was reported stolen at about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday from a shopping cart at a store in the 1200 block of West Main Street.
Robin Blind, 36, of Riverton, was arrested at about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of North Federal Boulevard on four municipal warrants.
Darron Monroe, 20, of St. Stephen's, was arrested at about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of South Federal Boulevard on a Fremont County Sheriff's Office warrant. He also was cited for no driver's license and speeding.
In Fremont County Sheriff's Office reports Wednesday:
-Deputies responded at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to reports that 30 cows were in a yard in the 400 block of South Eighth Street in Hudson.
Deputies responded at about 4:40 p.m. Wednesday to reports that parts of a fence had been cut on East Monroe Avenue in Riverton. The reporting party also said posts had been knocked down.
David Dobson, 55, of Dubois, was arrested at about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Horse Creek Road near Dubois for driving under the influence.
Sarah Griego, 46, of Hudson, was arrested on a Fremont County warrant for failure to appear.
