Central Wyoming College's theater season begins this week with four performances of "Let's Murder Marsha," the first production under Joey West, the college's new theater director.

The funny family show premieres Thursday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. on the main stage at the Robert A. Peck Arts Center in Riverton. Performances at 7 p.m. continue Friday and Saturday, with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

Kierra Muehler stars in the comedy, written by Monk Ferris, as Marsha, the happy housewife hopelessly addicted to reading murder mysteries who overhears her loving husband, played by Max Torgerson, discussing her upcoming birthday surprise with interior decorator Persis Devore (Abigail Larsen).

To Marsha's ears, though, it sounds like they are planning to murder her.

With the assistance of her next-door neighbor, Virgil Baxter (Noah Vernon), she tries to turn the tables on them with a poison potion.

When her own mother, Lynette Thoren (Samantha Melton), shows up for her birthday a day early, Marsha thinks she is in on the diabolical scheme.

When her maid's date, a policeman (Aaron Goldberg), shows up to take out the maid (Tapaynga Hill), Marsha thinks he is on to her poisoning attempt.

Marsha's intended victims discover what she has supposed, and decide to teach her a lesson by actually pretending to be murderers.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for youths and seniors. They can be purchased ahead of time at the Arts Center box office or at the door before each performance.
