Lady Rustlers lose close home contest to Sheridan

Close, but no cigar.

Such was the fate of the Lady Rustlers on Saturday, as they went down fighting in a close home defeat to Sheridan College by a score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-22).

Central's Rylee Burmester had a match-high 14 kills in the contest, but it wasn't quite enough to fight off the visitors.

According to Lady Rustlers head coach Darshaya Gallard, her club simply committed too many mistakes.

"The girls worked hard, but they made 25 errors," said Gallard. "Although we were two points away from the win, it's not good enough."

Gallard said her squad is getting better, but is still struggling to find an identity.

"The girls have made progress and that's what I'm looking for as their coach," she said."We'll continue to build up our team and make baby steps to the top. We've found may ways that don't work, which will only lead us to a true solution in the end. However, I'm proud of the fight my team carries through every match and almost every point."

Rylie Haderlie recorded 26 assists, while Burmester led with 16 digs, as Brooklenn Thompson added 15 and Tamara Lukic 10 on the day.

Central (4-14, 1-6 Region IX North) will close out its home season on Friday at 7 p.m. against Eastern Wyoming College, followed by a match with Laramie County Community College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
