Riverton native named colonel

Dane Rodgers, of Cheyenne, was promoted to colonel in the Wyoming Army National Guard on Sept. 22.

Rodgers was raised in Riverton and graduated from Riverton High School

Rodgers is the Wyoming National Guard's Director of Joint Military Operations. He has been a member of the Wyoming National Guard for 25 years.

Previous assignments include platoon leader and commander of Charlie Company, 5th Battalion, 159th Air Ambulance out of Cheyenne, airfield commander and operations officer for Camp Guernsey Joint Training Center, and the training officer for the Wyoming National Guard's joint operations.

Rodgers has deployed as a UH-60 Black Hawk pilot and maintenance test pilot three times in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, also serving as the commander for the medical evacuation team during his last deployment to Afghanistan from 2011- 2012.
