Big Red to face Lander

Two old cross-county volleyball rivals will serve it up against each other for the first time this season when the Riverton Lady Wolverines travel to Bob Carey Memorial Fieldhouse on Thursday for a scheduled 6 p.m. match against the Lander Valley Lady Tigers.

Both squads competed in the Rawlins Invitational last weekend, and the Lady Wolverines (7-4) rose through the gold championship bracket to a third-place finish, registering quality wins in bracket play against Star Valley and Torrington, but losing to eventual champion Rawlins.

The Lady Tigers (1-7) suffered a dramatically different fate, losing both of their silver- bracket matches to Pinedale and Thermopolis.

Thursday's match begins a busy week for the Lady Wolverines, who are celebrating homecoming.

On Friday, Riverton will host Pinedale at Wolverine Gym at 6 p.m. just prior to Riverton's football game against Glenrock, which kicks off at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, the Lady Wolverines will host Mountain View, with the varsity match set for 2 p.m.
