Riverton man to receive probation for sex with minor

21-year-old James Jaramillo is set to receive four years of probation for having sex with a 15-year-old that he seduced via Xbox Live.

If he does not comply by the terms of his bonds, prosecutors will be allowed to proceed with sentencing as if no plea deal were in place.

Jaramillo is set to plead guilty to second degree sexual abuse of a minor, which can carry a sentence of up to 20 years imprisonment.

Charlie Marshall, a officer with the Riverton Police Department, said in an affidavit that police learned that, on May 14, Jaramillo had "convinced (the victim) to have sex with him after confirming with (her) that she was a virgin."

The victim then snuck into Jaramillo's house after he "peer pressured" her, she later told police.

She also told police that Jaramillo said "we can't tell anybody about this" and that the incident later was "bothering her."

Another minor told police that she had also previously had sex with Jaramillo.
